I am is a firm believer in the power of experimentation and play in the artistic process. I often incorporate unconventional materials and techniques into my work, which allows me to explore new ideas and push the boundaries of my art.
My work has always been about the abstraction of nature; from cities to farmlands-incorporating the colors and textures of each season, to the grids and grit of NYC streets and around the world through my travels.
Layer upon layer of color, shapes and movement are thoughtfully laid down and then layer of color and shapes and movement are stripped away. At times, intentional images emerge and at other times, unintentional images seep through the layers, forming stories within the paintings: being able to see nature’s layers through paint, found objects that are organic or inorganic.
Since my cancer diagnosis, I have incorporated the emotional and physical feelings behind the diagnosis and how it affects my world view.
My painting are an exploration of relationships between nature, climate changes, environment, my body and well-being as well as my diagnosis and prognosis.
